NFT licenses

In the past, we have seen a lot of confusion surrounding what you are allowed to do with Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). This is often because projects release NFTs without clear guidance about what you are allowed to do with them and what not.

By releasing the NMKR Licenses and incorporating them directly into NMKR Mint, we are adding a level of security for both parties: The creator and the owner. This in place, you will be able to know exactly what you can and cannot do with your NFTs.

When any of the following three licenses are added to the NFT, the creator agrees to the agreement. By purchasing the NFT, the owner agrees to the agreement.

#1 Open-source license: This license is for open source and allows the owner any and all modifications to the art, so long as the modified art is not claimed to be the original. Read more

#2 License for personal use: This license is for personal, non-commercial use and permits the owner to use the art for personal and non-commercial purposes only. Read more

#3 Licence for commercial use: This is created to give common ground for all parties in regards to what kind of commercial using rights the NFT artist wants to grant to the owner of an NFT, including if a credit or reproduction may or may not be necessary or if permission is needed. Read more.

In our ever changing field of business, legal security is a next step towards mass adoption. Therefore, having those three licenses in place can only be a starting point. Depending on the demand of the NFT community, those licenses are going to be updated on a regular basis.

If you are a brand or a creator and you want to add a new kind of license we kindly ask you to get in touch with business@nmkr.io
